It was scary, but fun!

First and foremost, A big thank you to Princess Rei and Odin for opening up their home to host a Halloween party for all of us. It was, as they said in the ninety’s, the bomb diggity. Everyone who came out had a great time, and we’re all looking forward to the next Karaoke night starring Rei.

Great meat, great outdoors, great time.

Kai’s Great American Steak Out event is coming up in just a few short days. Hope everyone got their RSVPs in on time. If not, well, maybe you can ask nicely. This is going to be an awesome trip. If you’ve never been up to Cloudland Canyon this time of year, it’s truly a sight to behold. And if you can’t make it up this time, we’ll take some pictures for you.

Holiday party secrets revealed!

If you’ve been a good boy or girl, and have been checking the website for all the latest news and information about your friendly neighborhood furry community, then you’d know that we announced our Winter Wonderjam party not too long ago. If you haven’t, go ahead and hit backspace and scroll down. It was like, the last thing posted.

Anywho, We’ve picked our location! The party (on Saturday December 10th. Mark your calendars) will be held at the offices of our lovely parent organization Furry Weekend Atlanta at 7730 Roswell Road in Sandy Springs. It’s got plenty of room, ample parking, and it belongs to us so we can go as late as we want! We’re pretty excited about it, and you should be too!

Support your local community.

Parties don’t come cheap. Awesome Georgia Furs parties, doubly so. So, because we want to make the Winter Wonderjam the best holiday parties you’ll attend this season, we’re goanna make us some merch. Spread the word! We’re goanna be selling some pretty cool stuff. What we’ve got is in the planning stages right now, but keep on the look out here for preview pics and more details.

Art Jams are so tasty!

While we don’t always use real jam in preparation for artist gatherings, everyone who attends gives great reviews.

Our most recent art jam brought in approximately 20 artists, and somehow ended up starting a trend of becoming cereal placement – this jam highlighted the virtues of ‘Cinnamon Toast Crunch’

To all our artist friends, make sure you keep a lookout for our next art jam. We understand they’re delicious for breakfast.

Hopping over to BunnyDamour’s Taco Mac meet

While we got a bit of a late start in getting the word out, props and kudos are in order for Bunny for putting together her own meet at the Sandy Springs Taco Mac.

Another round of thanks to the 20-odd group of furries that came out to enjoy a bite to eat with Bunny and Kiza as they both celebrated their anniversary at the spot where they met.

Introducing the GeorgiaFurs Dinner Club

If you’re one who fancies dressing up and going out to eat, you might want to check out the new Dinner Club that Pet is starting up. Each dinner club meet-up will feature a different upscale restaurant in the Atlanta area.

For more information on the dinner club and to see the first restaurant choice, head on over to this page and take a look as well as put in your RSVP if you have an interest in attending.

Her Royal Highness Princess Rei Requests The Pleasure of your Presence…

Princess Rei and Odin are throwing a Halloween Party at their home on Saturday, 29 October 2011. Plans are in the works to have tons of fun with games, karaoke, movies and even doodle! Everyone is welcome, and costumes of all kinds are encouraged.

Be on the lookout in the next couple of days for the official post on the GeorgiaFurs.com website for the full detail spread of this royal party.

With the lights out it’s less dangerous. I smell Teen Spirit. Wait, it’s a GeorgiaFurs newsletter.

In This Issue:

Laser Tag: Mission Success!

Sushi slots filling up.

It’s your GeorgiaFurs. Help Shape It.

Taking Charge? That’s Awesome.

More after the break…

Laser Tag: Mission Success!

Laser tag was a blast! A big, big, BIG thanks to all 36 of you who came out to play with us all night and made it awesome. It was the best birthday party an organization focused on the furry community in Georgia could ever ask for!

Quite the turnout for Laser Tag.

Honorable mentions go out to Tifosi, for proving he’s the real Iron Man; Oden, for showing us there can be only one Highlander; and to Cinders and Funshade for surviving the Zombie hoard. We also need to take some time to recognize Curly Q and Lola Bunny at Laser Quest who did a wonderful job of taking care of us. They loved you guys, and they want us to bring all of y’all back real soon.

Sushi Slots Filling Up

It’s been one week since we said sushi, cocked our heads to the side, and said we’re angry. Wait, I don’t think that’s how it happened…

Any who, we announced the SushiFest meet just over a week ago at the laser tag event, and you guys jumped on it like, well, like a bunch of furries on a pile of sushi. Already we’ve got TEN people registered to come and learn how we roll, and there’s still 17 days left to the event! If you haven’t already done so, make sure you log onto MyFWA.com to let us know you want in. Only so many furs can fit up at Hux’s house, so register early to make sure you get to come.

It’s Your GeorgiaFurs. Help Shape It.

GeorgiaFurs is all about what the locals want. And even though we try to stay hip to the jive, we don’t always know what you guys want to do. There are a lot of fun things to do in and around Atlanta. So much so, that we can’t possible think of every one of them. If you’ve got an idea for a meet you want to have happen, send it our way and we’ll see if we can’t make it happen. Shoot an email over to events@georgiafurs.com with any ideas, suggestions, or questions.

Taking Charge? That’s Awesome.

You don’t have to wait for an official GeorgiaFurs event to hang out with the furs of Georgia. It warms our hearts to see you guys taking it upon yourselves to gather up a group of people and going out to have fun. Just this past weekend, Princess Rei organized a trip to 6 flags and that was a blast!

So if you feel inspired to give back to the community by setting something up, do so. As always, if you let us know about what you’ve got goin on we’ll help you promote it.

Hey look! This looks something like a newsletter.

In this edition:
1.	GeorgiaFurs turns 2!
2.	We Jammed (And It Tasted Good)
3.	A Bit Of Pew-Pew and Some Party Too!
4.	So We Herd U Liek To Plan Meetups…

GeorgiaFurs turns 2!
Georgia Furs’ birthday is right around the corner. It’s hard to believe that just two years ago this July we relaunched GeorgiaFurs.com. Since then, we’ve had the opportunity to meet some awesome people in the area we never knew were here, and welcome some pretty cool peeps into our ranks. If you haven’t been by the forums in a while, stop on by and meet some of the new folks. You guys are the most awesome-sauce and the whole reason we’re here.

We Jammed (And It Tasted Good!)
Furry artists all over were craving it, and we delivered. The recipe? A mixture of music, markers, and merriment all rolled in to a little something we dubbed the Tree House Art-Jam. Over twenty artists came out to sit and doodle away alongside their friends in addition to meeting up with new artists in Georgia. You can check out pics from the meet at our FA (http://furaffinity.net/user/georgiafurs/) Did you miss this plateful of awesome? Don’t worry. Keep checking GeorgiaFurs.com for more information on our next meet. We’ll be doing another one soon.

A Bit Of Pew-Pew and Some Party Too!
If it’s one thing we know how to do, it’s celebrate. We wanted to reach out and extend an invitation for you to celebrate with us by doing the most fun thing we can think of.

We’re going back to play laser tag.

Join us on Saturday, July 23 at the Laser Quest in Duluth for our biggest event of the year. It was a smash hit last year, and it’ll be even better this time around. Come by for food, friends, and all night laser tag. We’ll have cake and ice cream, and prizes and giveaways to commemorate Georgia Furs’ second birthday. Be sure to check out the front page of GeorgiaFurs.com for all those key details, and check back in regularly for community news and events.

So We Herd U Liek To Plan Meetups…
The whole focus of Georgia Furs is helping to build the local furry community. We’ve put together some pretty cool meet-ups and some happening parties in our time, but sometimes it’s just not enough. That being said, we strongly encourage anyone and everyone who’s interested to organize their own events and shindigs. We’ll help you out, too. Let us know what you’ve got goin on and we’ll promote it for you. We’ll even answer any questions you have about planning. That’s what we’re here for after all. If you’ve got something set or need an idea, you can shoot us an email to events@GeorgiaFurs.com and we’ll put you on the right track.

Best Regards to ya,

One of our own greatly needs our help. Sporty pup, who is a local Georgia fur needs to have surgery due to a bad valve in his heart. This particular condition is called Valvular Heart Disease, and if not treated will cause heart failure. The surgery will take $40,000 total, but needs $16,500 up front, just to be able to have the surgery. The remaining $24,000 will be billed later, so he needs to get this money soon. The longer Sporty has to wait for the surgery, the greater the risk is of heart failure. The hope is to have enough to be able to have the surgery later this month in Asheville, NC., but only if the doctor see’s that the amount needed will come in quickly after.

Sporty, is currently 30 years old, but will be 31 in March. Besides being a furry and occasional fursuiter, he is also a father of a 3 1/2 year old boy, named Koda. Sporty currently lives in Macon, Georgia.

Sporty and friends are now asking for donations towards the surgery through paypal. Even if you’re only able to donate a couple dollars anything helps, so they ask everyone who reads this to please donate something. Friend’s are even putting items up on http://www.thedealersden.com and http://www.furbuy.com to help raise money. Sporty is a really awesome guy, and really needs our help to make this happen. You can make a donation too, through the paypal link below.

Even with all the drama that goes on in this fandom, I have also seen this fandom do a lot of good, and really come together when one of our own needs help, and I would hope this no exception.
